Monitoring and reporting of gender equality in landownership in Albania

Agricultural land is a key asset for rural populations in Albania, yet women, despite being the backbone of the rural economy, own just over one-tenth of it, limiting their empowerment and the sustainability of agrifood systems. This assessment reviews Albania’s progress, challenges, and opportunities in monitoring SDG land rights Indicators 5.a.1 and 5.a.2, highlighting the need for stronger technical capacity, sex-disaggregated data, and continued support to align with EU integration and the 2030 Agenda.
