The report offers an updated overview of gender equality in Albania, examining progress, challenges, and alignment with EU standards amid accession efforts. It highlights key gains such as the 2021–2030 National Strategy for Gender Equality, gender-responsive budgeting now covering 10% of the national budget, and forthcoming legal reforms. Yet persistent gaps remain — limited policy implementation, outdated data on gender-based violence, low women’s representation, and economic inequality driven by unpaid care. Despite institutional progress, structural barriers still hinder full gender equality, calling for sustained commitment and enforcement.
