Shifting the Paradigm Care as an Investment in Albania
This publication examines the coverage gaps in Albania’s care system for early childhood s d long term care, and demonstrates the social and economic returns of investing in affordable, accessible and quality care services for all. Applying the UN Women and ILO policy tool for the first time in Albania, the study estimates the costs and potential benefits of closing coverage gaps, while also assessing the value of unpaid care work and its contribution to the economy.
The study was prepared by UN Women with the support of the Government of UK and the Government of Sweden, and it will serve policy makers in the field of economy, gender equality and social protection to address the care economy as a potentially transformative sector which can lead to economic growth while also addressing gender inequalities.
