For International Women's Day, UN Women Albania, in partnership with the Albanian Football Federation, UN agencies, and journalists, hosted a mini football tournament as part of the #ForAllWomenAndGirls campaign. Around 40 women and girls participated in an event, turning the football field into a symbol of progress and change.

In celebration of Pink October, UN Women Albania, the Albanian Football Federation, and journalists joined forces for an all-women football mini tournament, raising awareness about the importance of early breast cancer detection. The first event of its kind, it aimed to increase participation in sports for women and girls while emphasizing solidarity in the fight against the disease.

This innovative methodology, introduced by ESD Albania with the support of UN Women and funding from the Swedish Government, aims to prevent violence and reduce bullying in schools. This is the story of a dedicated teacher and her students at “Karl Gega” High School in an Albanian village, and how ESD has transformed their lives.

These are some of the key findings from the "Gender Equality and Women's Participation in Sports in Albania" assessment, conducted by UN Women.
