Roundtable Rouses Support for Greater Regional Cooperation on Gender Equality in the Western Balkans

Representatives from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Moldova and Serbia gathered to share their experiences and challenges with implementing their National Gender Mechanism. This is a key tool to help countries meet their international obligations under the Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW).

On and around International Women’s Day, 8 March, a rich diversity of initiatives celebrate women’s achievements, activism and potential in Europe and Central Asia. UN Women, along with partners, organized events across the region, under the theme of “Time is Now: Rural and urban activists transforming women’s lives”. Funded by the Austrian Development Agency and Swiss Development Cooperation, the programme enables women to influence local budgets to address their diverse needs.
